The Porcelain Museum
The Riga Porcelain Museum exhibits varied items, dating from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day. Amongst the outstanding display items is the “human height vase”, which vase was produced to mark the 700th anniversary of the founding of the city. Not only can you see the production process of a great variety of porcelain products, you can also get “hands-on” yourself and create your very own masterpiece.
The Cathedral of the Nativity in Riga: An Impressive Building
The Cathedral of the Nativity is the largest orthodox religious building in Riga. The foundation stone was laid on the 3rd of July, 1876 and a dedication was celebrated on 28th October 1884. The Cathedral of the Nativity impresses not just through its size, but also because of its magnificent architecture. Over the years, the Cathedral has been closed and used for different purposes. Towards the end of the 1990’s the renovation of the imposing building began and the cathedral is now once again used for orthodox services.
